Affordable Housing Advocacy Campaign
Goals and Objectives
We hope, over the next THREE years, through the planning,
support and construction of affordable housing, to have decreased
overcrowded and overburdened low, very low and extremely low income
households by an average of ONE HUNDRED households each year. These
households will no longer have to move and disrupt their families
when rents are raised, commute long distances to work for low paying
jobs, live in overcrowded, unsafe conditions, or fear their loss
of housing.
In fiscal year 2004-2005, we will:
Hire a part-time Housing Advocacy Organizer to assist the Executive Director, the Board of Directors, and our
Housing Advocacy Volunteers in five cities as they implement the
following objectives:
- Work with Tri-Valley
Business Council Vision 2010 to gather
information and issue a report on our FIVE cities’ implementations
of their 2000-2006 housing element goals.
- Meet with TEN team leaders and business council members to plan an
event to announce the report, develop action steps, and begin
their implementation.
- Hold ONE Tri-Valley Housing Conference to celebrate our work,
learn from our disappointments and train and re-energize ONE HUNDRED
advocates to become more involved and informed in their communities.
- Distribute information to our advocates on policy changes needed
to fund very low -income housing. Use a format easily distributed
to congregations or organizations.
- Monitor and support our cities’ implementations of their
zoning goals in their housing element, choosing at least NINE
potential
sites for re-zoning.
- Support and encourage non-profit applications for development
on FOUR appropriately zoned properties.
- Maintain an email list of supporters in EACH CITY that can turn
out to support higher density zoning and lower income developments.
- Raise adequate funds to maintain our presence in the Livermore
Multi-Service Center and carry out the elements of this campaign.
